Laurier appoints Jeffery Jones as the Acting Associate Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
Laurier is pleased to announce , professor, Department of Psychology, as acting associate dean: Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (FGPS). Jones will serve in this role until June 30, 2017.
The associate dean: FGPS provides leadership for Laurier’s ASPIRE professional skills development program, acts as the point of contact for postdoctoral fellows and their faculty supervisors, chairs the Graduate Students Appeals Committee (GSAC), and assists the dean with other strategic initiatives important to the advancement of graduate studies at Laurier.
“The continued success of our graduate students and postdoctoral fellows is linked to Laurier’s commitment to high-level research and academic training,” said Jones. “I’m eager to have this opportunity to help the Faculty advance the graduate enterprise at Laurier and to support our postdoctoral fellows.”
Jones comes to the FGPS with a strong track record of high-quality research and graduate administrative experience. His research focuses on fundamental and applied studies that investigate the brain processes that support human communication, social interaction, and sensory-motor control. He has a consistent track record of funding and this success has helped him train a number of graduate-level students through the Laurier Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience for which he is the Director.
Jones has also served on multiple graduate curriculum and scholarship selection committees and was Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Psychology from 2011-2014.
