Childcare Services

There are several childcare services available to Laurier students, depending on geographical location.

The following childcare services are based in Waterloo and available to Laurier students.

Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre

Laurier is pleased to participate in a childcare partnership with Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre. Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre is a non-profit, non-denominational child development centre that provides childcare services for children between 18 months to 5 years of age (with three spaces for children between 15 to 18 months).

As part of the partnership, Emmanuel provides priority access for full-time and part-time Laurier employees, and full-time students to a number of day care spaces each year.

Registration Instructions and Timelines

Those interested in applying for priority access for September enrolment at Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre will need to do the following:

  • Register using OneList, the Region of Waterloo’s central childcare waitlist. Using OneList, indicate interest in Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre.
  • Once registered on OneList, your information will be kept each year until you cancel your registration. There is no need to register on an annual basis.
  • Once registered on OneList, notify Emmanuel by email at onelist@emmanuelchildcare.ca, indicating:
    • That you have registered for OneList, and that you are a Laurier student.
    • Your name.
    • Your Laurier student ID number.
    • Your child's name.
    • Your child's date of birth.
    • Whether full-time or part-time childcare is needed.

If you are already on Emmanuel's OneList and wish to remain on the list, please ensure you contact the centre to express your continued interest in enrolment by end of January each year.

Emmanuel will fill available priority daycare spots based on order of registration on OneList and program availability. Families eligible for a priority spot will be contacted by Emmanuel to confirm interest, and invited to attend one of two available in-person registration days.

The selected Laurier families for September enrolment will attend one of the two available registration days taking place at the childcare centre to register their child.

Any Laurier families that did not receive a priority daycare spot will be included in the subsequent community registration process, and will have the opportunity to access daycare spaces available to the broader community. Families that do not secure a spot through the community process will remain on OneList in subsequent years, but will need to contact Emmanuel each year to ensure access to Laurier priority spots.
