There are several childcare services available to Laurier students, depending on geographical location.
The following childcare services are based in Waterloo and available to Laurier students.
Laurier is pleased to participate in a childcare partnership with Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre. Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre is a non-profit, non-denominational child development centre that provides childcare services for children between 18 months to 5 years of age (with three spaces for children between 15 to 18 months).
As part of the partnership, Emmanuel provides priority access for full-time and part-time Laurier employees, and full-time students to a number of day care spaces each year.
Those interested in applying for priority access for September enrolment at Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre will need to do the following:
If you are already on Emmanuel's OneList and wish to remain on the list, please ensure you contact the centre to express your continued interest in enrolment by end of January each year.
Emmanuel will fill available priority daycare spots based on order of registration on OneList and program availability. Families eligible for a priority spot will be contacted by Emmanuel to confirm interest, and invited to attend one of two available in-person registration days.
The selected Laurier families for September enrolment will attend one of the two available registration days taking place at the childcare centre to register their child.
Any Laurier families that did not receive a priority daycare spot will be included in the subsequent community registration process, and will have the opportunity to access daycare spaces available to the broader community. Families that do not secure a spot through the community process will remain on OneList in subsequent years, but will need to contact Emmanuel each year to ensure access to Laurier priority spots.
Laurier is pleased to announce the new childcare partnership with Creative Minds Children Services to provide priority access to childcare services for students on the Brantford campus. This new partnership was established with the assistance of the Brantford campus childcare committee. Creative Minds is a provincially licensed, non-denominational child development centre that provides childcare services for toddlers (14 months and up) and preschoolers including children with special needs.
Creative Minds will be providing priority access to childcare services to full-time Laurier students throughout the year.
The centre is located at 5 Wade Ave. (within a four-minute drive from campus), and is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. During COVID-19, hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
