New and exciting changes have been happening over the summer at the Accessible Learning Centre.
The Accessible Learning Centre (ALC) Waterloo team has moved to the new Teaching and Learning Commons, located on second floor of the Peters Building in room P220.
How you reactivate your ALC registration and access your accommodations with the ALC has changed at Laurier. You will use the new system, Accessible Learning Online. All returning students should check their myLaurier email for detailed information about the new system and steps for reactivating accommodations.
Accessible Learning Online: What Do You Need to Do?
- Each term, you need to reactivate your ALC registration and request accommodations for each course through Accessible Learning Online (refer to your myLaurier email).
- You will be required to complete an updated consent agreement once per academic year through Accessible Learning Online.
- After you have reactivated your ALC registration and requested accommodations for each course, you can then book tests/exams and request note-takers.
- You will no longer have an ALC number; you can check test/exam locations through Accessible Learning Online.
- Students with a note-taking accommodation will now check for notes through Accessible Learning Online.
What Has Not Changed
- The process for requesting and acquiring alternate format (e-text) materials has not changed. E-text materials can be picked up from Douglas Facey (Waterloo) in the Peters Building, room P208 (with original textbook receipts and USB stick) or Tammy Bartolo (Brantford) in DAL105 (email lbetext@wlu.ca to arrange for pick up).
- Waterloo appointments can still be booked through the main ALC Office (now in P220) or by calling 519.884.0710 x3086.
- Brantford appointments can still be booked through the main ALC office (DAL214) or by calling 519.756.8228 x5871.
- Exam writing locations have remained the same.
