New library system to launch at Laurier soon
Dec. 13 Update
Migration to the Omni, the Laurier Library’s new system, is currently ongoing. The Library will provide additional information on system availability soon.
While the transition from Primo to Omni continues, faculty, staff and students will have access to Primo for searching and access to electronic resources. During this transition period, some Primo functions such as placing holds and recalls for materials or accessing user accounts (‘My Account’) will be temporarily unavailable until Omni is launched.
Course readings and reserves services, including use of the Ares system, are not affected by the Omni system migration.
If you require assistance in requesting materials from other libraries during this time, please contact the Library’s User Services help desk. Questions about Omni can be directed to the Library’s Omni Team.
The Laurier Library will launch Omni, a new research tool and shared library system that will provide you with access to high-quality academic resources from 13 other university libraries in Ontario. You’ll be able to search over 20 million books, journals and other library materials and directly request through Omni.
Omni includes resources in all fields of study and is accessible on multiple devices. Omni will replace Primo search, the current shared library search system between Laurier, the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo. Omni was developed as part of a 14-member collaboration of Ontario university libraries through the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL).
Ontario university libraries sharing Omni with Laurier include:
- Brock University
- Carleton University
- University of Guelph
- Lakehead University
- Nipissing University
- Ontario Tech University
- University of Ottawa
- Queen’s University
- Trent University
- University of Waterloo
- Western University
- University of Windsor
- York University
If you require assistance in requesting materials from other libraries during this time, please contact the Library’s User Services help desk.
The Library will be providing additional support to help you get started with using Omni, such as how-to instructional videos and answers to frequently asked questions, available on the Library’s website.
