Laurier Student Arrested for Uttering Threats Online
The RCMP alerted Waterloo Regional Police and Laurier’s Special Constable Service to a threatening comment posted on social media by a Laurier student. The Special Constable Service, the RCMP and the Waterloo Regional Police worked together to identify and locate the suspect. The individual was arrested off campus on Friday, Feb. 7. According to the WRPS, police “do not believe there are any credible threats to public safety” and therefore the University’s emergency response protocols were not enacted. The university has issued a trespass notice that prohibits the individual from being on Laurier property.
