Winter 2020 Deadlines and Important Dates

As the new semester begins, it’s a good time to plan ahead and keep in mind the important dates and deadlines for the winter 2020 term.
Note: Refer to the academic calendar for official academic and related dates.
12-Week Winter Courses: Registration and Tuition
January
- Jan. 2: Co-op work term begins.
- Jan. 6: Winter term classes begin.
- Jan. 6-10: Drop/withdraw from courses with no tuition charge.
- Jan. 11–17: Drop/withdraw from courses at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
- Jan. 13: Tuition fees due.
- Jan. 15: Application to Graduate form (without late fee) is due for spring convocation.
- Jan. 16–April 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for spring convocation.
- Jan. 17: Last day to add winter term courses (including online learning).
- Jan. 18–March 27: Drop/withdraw from courses at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
February
- Feb. 17: Family Day; no classes.
- Feb. 18–21: Reading week.
March
- Extended to April 7 (previously March 27): Last day to drop/withdraw from courses without failure and for possible tuition adjustment (assessed at course rate).
April
- April 1: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form (penalty fee applies) for spring convocation. No forms will be accepted after this date.
- April 3: Classes end.
- April 6–7: Study days.
- April 7: Last day to drop/withdraw from courses without failure and for possible tuition adjustment (assessed at course rate).
- April 8–28: Final examination period. Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time period.
- April 10: Good Friday; no examinations on Easter weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
- April 28: Winter term ends.
- April 30: Co-op work term ends.
- April 30: Last day to return learning materials for refund.
May
- May 25–30: Winter term deferred examination period.
Six-Week Winter Courses: Registration and Tuition
January
- Jan. 6: First six-week classes begin.
- Jan. 6–10: Drop/withdraw from courses with no tuition charge.
- Jan. 10: Last day to add first six-week courses.
- Jan. 11–12: Drop/withdraw from courses at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
- Jan. 11–31: Drop/withdraw from courses at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
- Jan. 23: Last day to add second six-week courses.
- Jan. 31: Last day to drop first six-week courses without failure and for possible tuition adjustment.
February
- Feb. 1: From this date until the end of first six-week classes, if you drop first six-week courses you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition.
- Feb. 14: First six-week classes end.
- Feb. 17: Family Day; no classes.
- Feb. 18–21: Reading week.
- Feb. 24: Second six-week classes begin.
- Feb. 24–28: Drop/withdraw from second six-week courses with no tuition charge.
- Feb. 29–March 1: Drop/withdraw from second six-week courses at 10% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).
March
- March 2–20: Drop/withdraw from second six-week courses at 55% tuition penalty (assessed at course rate).

- Jan. 22: Registration opens for spring courses (including online learning) at 10 a.m.
- March 2: Last day to register in at least one spring course without the late registration fee (including online learning).
- May 11: Spring term classes begin.
- May 11: Spring co-op work term begins.
- May 11: Spring term tuition fees due.
