Important dates and deadlines for spring, intersession and summer 2020

Golden Hawks, get a start on planning for the spring 2020 term and note the following important dates. Note: Refer to the academic calendar for official academic and related dates.
Updated: LORIS Temporarily Unavailable to Drop Courses
LORIS will not be available for students to drop summer term courses on July 28. This will not affect fall/winter registration. LORIS will be available again to drop summer term courses on July 29 before noon.
12-Week Spring Course Registration
May
- May 4: Spring co-op placements begin.
- May 11: Classes begin.
- May 11 to 15: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw without tuition charge.
- May 16 to 25: Drop/withdraw at 10% tuition penalty.
- May 18: Victoria Day (no classes; Laurier closed).
- May 25: Last day to add courses.
- May 26 to July 7: 12-week course(s) drop/withdraw at 55% tuition penalty.
June
- June 9: Tuition fees due.
July
- July 1: Canada Day (no classes: Laurier closed).
- July 7: Last day to drop/ withdraw from 12-week courses without failure and possible tuition adjustment.
August
- Aug. 1: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form (without late fee) for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 2 to Sept. 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 3: Civic holiday, no examinations scheduled on the Civic Holiday weekend (August 1, 2, 3)
- Aug. 4: Make-up Monday class for Victoria Day.
- Aug. 5: Make-up Wednesday class for Canada.
- Aug. 6 and 7: Study period.
- Aug. 8 to 17: Final exam period. Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time.
- Aug. 17: Spring term ends.
- Aug. 29 to Sept. 3: Spring term deferred examination period.
- Aug. 31: Co-op work term ends.
Six-Week Intersession Course Registration
May
- May 11: Classes begin.
- May 11 to 13: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, no tuition charged.
- May 14 to 15: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, you are responsible for 10% tuition (assessed at course rate).
- May 15: Last day to add courses.
- May 16 to June 8: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition (assessed at course rate).
- May 18: Victoria Day (no classes; Laurier closed).
June
- June 8: Last day to drop intersession course(s) or withdraw without failure and for possible fee adjustment.
- June 9: Tuition fees due.
- June 22: Make-up Monday class for Victoria Day, classes end.
- June 23 and 24: Study days.
- June 25 to 29: Final examinations. Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time.
August
- Aug. 1: Application to Graduate form (without late fee) is due for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 2 to Sept. 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 3: Civic holiday (no classes: Laurier closed).
- Aug 24 to 29: Intersession deferred examination period. An appeal for a deferred examination must be submitted to the academic unit in which the course is offered. The deferred examination dates are confirmed, if approved, in writing from the petitions committee.
Six-Week Summer Course Registration
May
- May 13: Application deadline for students requiring 'Application for Admission' for part-time studies for summer session.
June
- June 9: Tuition fees due.
July
- July 1: Canada Day (no classes: Laurier closed).
- July 6: Classes begin.
- Jul 6 to 8: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, no tuition charged.
- Jul 9 to 10: If you drop during this time period, you are responsible for 10% tuition (assessed at course rate).
- July 10: Last day to add courses.
- Jul 11 to 31: If you drop/withdraw during this time period, you are responsible for 55% tuition (assessed at course rate).
- July 31: Last day to drop summer session course(s) or withdraw without failure.
August
- Aug. 1: Application for Graduation form (without late fee) due for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 1: From this date until the end of classes, if you drop/withdraw you will receive academic penalty (failure) and are responsible for 100% tuition.
- Aug. 2 to Sept. 1: Late penalty fee applies on Application to Graduate forms received for Fall Convocation.
- Aug. 3: Civic holiday (no classes: Laurier closed).
- Aug. 17: Make-up Monday class for Civic holiday, classes end.
- Aug 18 and 19: Study days
- Aug 20 to 22: Final examinations. Students are advised not to make travel commitments during this time.
September
- Sept. 1: Last day to submit Application to Graduate form (penalty fee applies) for Fall Convocation. No applications will be accepted after this date.
- Sept. 21 to 26: Summer session deferred examination period. An appeal for a deferred examination must be submitted to the academic unit in which the course is offered. The deferred examination dates are confirmed, if approved, in writing from the petitions committee.
Co-op
- May 4: Co-op work term begins.
- Aug. 31: Co-op work term ends.
University Closure
- May. 18: Victoria Day
- July 1: Canada Day
- Aug. 3: Civic Holiday
