Bookable Library Student Study Space and Appointments for Archival Research Are Now Available
Dear Laurier Students, Faculty and Staff,
It is my pleasure to let you know that the Laurier Library will be providing appointment based access for both student study spaces and to the Laurier Archives on Waterloo campus. We worked very hard with our University partners to put in place space and service modifications to ensure everyone’s safety. Heartfelt welcome back to our Laurier community and big thank you to all our partners and Library staff for their hard work!
Main Floor Student Study Space – Waterloo Campus
Bookable study spaces for students are available at our Waterloo campus library as of Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Library has 35 study spaces available on a rotating half-day basis, including: 23 study tables and 12 computer carrels. Students will have access to public printing/scanning as well as public computers (reserve at booking) on the main floor.
Study space appointment booking times are available in three-hour time blocks (one user per block) as follows:
Monday to Friday:
- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (morning time slot)
- 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. (no bookings - closed for cleaning break)
- 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (afternoon time slot)

The students must follow the COVID-19: On-Campus Protocols that align with provincial health guidelines to ensure that the health and safety of everyone working, living and learning on campus this fall is protected. All users will be required to wear Community Protective Equipment (Face Covering) while in the library. Students please check in at the main service desk with your OneCard and proof of EventBrite registration when you come in. Students must also complete the University’s SafeHawk Self-Assessment using the SAFEHawk app and show a green ‘pass’ badge upon entry to the Library. Laurier Archives
The Laurier archives is launching a service for booking appointments for consultation of our research collections. This service starts as of Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Archival research booking times are available in two-hour time blocks (one user per block) as follows:
Mondays and Wednesdays:
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. (no bookings - closed for cleaning break)
- 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
All users of Laurier Archives must follow the Laurier Health and Safety protocols that align with provincial health guidelines to ensure that the health and safety of everyone working, living and learning on campus this fall is protected. The students will need follow the COVID-19: On-Campus Protocols and complete the University’s SafeHawk Self-Assessment using the SAFEHawk app and show a green ‘pass’ badge upon entry to the Library. Laurier employees will need to show their Qualtrics COVID-19 Self-Assessment badge or confirm that they have passed Ontario COVID 19 self-assessment symptom free. All users will be required to wear Community Protective Equipment (Face Covering) while in the library. Nitrile gloves will be provided when handling archival material.
