Stay Safe and COVID-free this Halloween, GHOULden Hawks
Halloween 2020 is a different kind of scary. As students plan for the upcoming Halloween weekend, it is important to remember that COVID-19 is present in our communities. That means making smart choices and following public health guidelines to keep ourselves, our friends and family members safe.
The weekend can still be fa-boo-lous. Respect physical distancing requirements, wear a mask where required, and respect the limits on social gatherings. Police and bylaw officers will invite themselves to large parties and don’t expect them to hand out treats — fines for breaking public health rules range from $880 for individuals to a downright scary $10,000 fine for hosts and organizers of gatherings that break the COVID restrictions.
Another consideration when planning your costume is making sure that it can accommodate a non-medical mask that prevents the spread of COVID. The more we continue to do to prevent the spread of the virus, the sooner we can all get back together.
With that, we are counting on our students to be good members of the Wilfrid Laurier University community and good neighbours.
Thank you and #StayGhoulden.
