Calendar Description

Limits and continuity; differential and integral calculus of functions of a single variable; the Mean Value Theorem; determination of extrema; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and techniques of integration; introduction to partial derivatives.

J. Stewart: Calculus (Early Transcendentals), 8th Edition, Cengage Learning.


Students may only use the approved scientific calculator, Casio FX-300MS Plus, on lab assignments, the midterm test and the final examination. No other calculator is allowed. It is available for purchase at the campus bookstore.

A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

  • Clickers: 5%
  • Online Assignments: 10%
  • Labs (including online quizzes): 20%
  • Midterm Test (Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, 5:30 p.m. - 6:50 p.m.): 30%
  • Final Examination (2.5 hours, exact date and time to be announced): 35%

To be eligible to pass this course, a student must score at least 40% on the final examination. The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.
