MA218A: Euclidean Geometry (Winter 2018)

Calendar Description

Elements of Euclidean geometry emphasizing the axiomatic approach; geometric shapes and measurements; Euler line and nine point circle; straightedge and compass constructions; transformations in Euclidean geometry; notions of non-Euclidean geometries.

MA121, or consent of the department.

Evaluation

A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

  • Assignments (Due Thursdays, weeks 3, 5, 8, 11): 20%
  • Midterm Test (Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, in class): 30%
  • Final Exam (Cumulative, 2 hours, exact date, time and location to be announced): 50%

Students must achieve a score of at least 40% of the marks available on the final examination to be eligible to pass the course. The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.
