Calendar Description

Monoids and groups, subgroups, quotient groups and group homomorphisms: groups acting on sets, conjugacy and the class equation; the Sylow theorems; free groups; finitely generated Abelian groups.

Evaluation

A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

  • Four Assignments: 20%
  • Midterm Test (Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in class): 30%
  • Final Exam (2 hours, exact date, time and location to be announced): 50%

The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.
