Choosing an Ambassador Role

Below are brief descriptions of each Ambassador Role.  Full details and instructions are posted to the Convocation SharePoint site.

Guest Greeter

Is the friendly face that welcomes family and friends to the venue.  You'll help direct students to Graduate Check-In and guests to the theatre.

Guide graduates through the pre-ceremony line-up, procession, stage crossing and recession. Marshals must be staff or faculty members and wear academic regalia in order to participate.

Student Robing Assistant

You will help issue regalia (gowns and hoods) to graduates. This includes checking participation cards, providing the appropriate gown and hood, and answering questions.

Guest Services Attendant

Guest Services is located in the venue lobby and is hub of excitement!  Ceremony staff consider this home during convocation and this is where guests and graduates are directed with questions or concerns.  You'll help as a runner, or supervisor is needed to manage the tables.

Ticket Scanner

All guests entering the auditorium will require tickets. Your job, using the ticket scanners provided, is to:

  • Scan tickets that guests provide either on their electronic device or on paper.
  • Direct guests without tickets to the overflow room on the second floor.
  • Direct guests with any difficulties to Guest Services in the lobby.

As all ceremonies are ticketed events and many reach capacity, you will ensure that there are no gaps between the seated parties and will distribute programs.

A Lead Usher is assigned to manage the arrival and seating of guests who have requested an accommodation.

Viewing Room Attendant

For the guests who do not have tickets to a Waterloo ceremony, we feature the live-streamed ceremony in LH1009 and LH1010 – lecture halls located on the second floor of Lazaridis Hall.

A viewing room is available in SC Johnson Building Room SCJ127 at the Brantford campus.

You will be in the viewing room to assist our guests and answer any questions.

Make sure our visitors know they can join their graduates for refreshments at the reception following the ceremony.
