Emergency Financial Assistance
Are there still funds available?
As of May 19, Laurier has committed all of its available Emergency Funds to assist eligible students with their March and April COVID-19-related financial needs. We are pleased that we were able to assist a significant number of students with the funds we had available. We are continuing our fundraising campaigns and planning for further student financial support so we can continue to assist more students in need.
We have closed the Emergency Fund application and will share information with students about future financial supports when it becomes available. Students who have applied for funding have been contacted.
If I receive funding, will the funding be applied to my account or can I request the money directly?
Given the exceptional circumstances and nature of funding, eligible applicants will be able to request the grant as a refund to their bank account through the refund request form on their LORIS account. Otherwise, it will remain on their student account. Emergency funds related to COVID-19 will be processed as requested.
I would like to donate to the Laurier COVID-19 Emergency Fund. How do I contribute?
Those who are in a position to donate to the Laurier COVID-19 Emergency Fund can do so through the fund’s HawkStarter page. Faculty and staff can also choose to support the emergency fund through payroll contributions.
Can I apply for financial support from the Canadian government?
Please visit our Student Financial Support page to review a variety of financial supports from the Canadian Government that you may be eligible for.
OSAP
What options are available through OSAP?
