Brantford
All of our residences in Brantford are apartment-style, which means you have a kitchen in your unit so you can prepare your own meals. Two residence preferences are offered in both gender inclusive housing and co-ed housing.
Apartment-Style, Single Room (Co-Ed Housing)
These apartment units house 2-7 students, and all students within the apartment unit identify as the same gender.
Depending upon the building, each apartment unit has one to three washrooms. All students within the apartment unit share the common areas (kitchen, living room and washrooms).

Students who select this style as one of their residence preferences are able to request a roommate by forming a roommate group.
Apartment-Style, Shared Double Room (Co-Ed Housing)
These apartment units house 5-7 students, and all students within the apartment unit identify as the same gender.
Depending upon the building, each apartment unit has one to three washrooms. All students within the apartment unit share the common areas (kitchen, living room and washrooms).

Waterloo
Our buildings are comprised of both dormitory-style accommodations and apartment-style accommodations. The main difference between dormitory-style and apartment-style residences is the kitchen. Dormitory style residences have limited shared cooking facilities, where apartment-style residences each have a kitchen.
Seven residence preferences are offered in gender inclusive housing, eight residence preferences are available in co-ed housing and one residence preference is available in single gender housing.
Dormitory-Style, Semi-Private (Co-Ed Housing)
Each community is co-ed.
One washroom is shared between two students who identify as the same gender or who both applied for gender inclusive housing.

Roommate Groups
Students are not able to request a preferred roommate to share the washroom. Students who select this style as one of their residence preference should not form a roommate group, as roommate requests will not be considered.
Dormitory-Style, Traditional, Single Room (Co-Ed Housing)
Each community is single-gender, based upon the gender identity indicated in the residence application.
Communal single-gendered washrooms are shared between all of the students living in the community. Community sizes vary within each building, and can range from approximately 16 – 40 students.

Students who select this style as one of their residence preferences should not form a roommate group, as roommate requests will not be considered.
Dormitory-Style, Traditional, Shared Double Room (Co-Ed Housing)
Communal single-gendered washrooms are shared between all of the students living in the community. Community sizes vary within each building, and can range from approximately 16 – 40 students.

Roommate Groups
Students who select this style as one of their residence preferences are able to request a roommate by forming a roommate group.
All rooms within each apartment unit will be assigned to students who identify as the same gender or who have applied to gender inclusive housing.
Within each apartment unit, there may be a combination of single rooms and shared double rooms.
Apartment-Style, Ensuite, Single Room (Co-Ed Housing)
These apartment units house 5 students, and all students within the apartment unit identify as the same gender.
Each student has their own ensuite washroom. All students within the apartment unit share the common areas (kitchen and living room).
