Laurier has an Emergency Notification System (ENS) that expands the university’s ability to alert the Laurier community in the event of a significant safety threat.
The ENS is an integrated messaging system that enables the university to:
Members of the Laurier community are encouraged to register their mobile numbers with the ENS. You will only receive a text message in the event of a significant on-campus emergency or for periodic tests. Standard message and data rates may apply.
To register your mobile number for the ENS, you must have a valid LORIS ID and PIN. Log in to LORIS and follow the instructions under the "Campus Safety" area.

Most university-owned desktops and laptops. ICT has installed a client on these computers. The client allows the ENS to "talk" to these computers in the event of a significant emergency.

No. The university will only use your mobile number for sending urgent notification texts and occasional test messages related to the ENS.
This depends on your personal mobile plan. Please check with your network provider to find out about the cost of receiving general texts.

An authentic Laurier ENS text message will come from the number 30000035.
To re-opt in a phone number that was previously subscribed but was accidentally opted-out of the ENS service is simple: send a text message to 30000035 with the words "JOIN WLUENS"; you will receive the following text message:
