Global Engagement Fund for WLUSU and WLUGSA Clubs Application Form
The Global Engagement Fund aims to encourage the Students’ Union and Graduate Students’ Association to assist in Global Engagement initiatives at Laurier. This could result in the clubs becoming better equipped to carry on their globally focused activities or more clubs taking on a greater international perspective, thereby increasing the number of clubs with a global focus.
Objective
A fund of up to $5,000 per year supports awards to WLUSU and WLUGSA clubs that strive to advance global engagement at Laurier. Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria, individually or collectively:
- Activities aimed at including international students in their membership.
- Promotion of cross-cultural awareness and global citizenship on Laurier campuses and in the communities.
- Activities aimed at advancing international student or non-Canadian student success in the Laurier community.
- Promotion of Laurier to a global audience.
Funds will be provided to support initiatives beyond the club’s regular activities. The maximum award is $1,000. Applications will be considered from groups of students that are not formal clubs with WLUSU and the GSA, with the approval of the relevant student union executive (WLUSU or GSA). Note: the fund will not support student travel.
Process
If you feel your club’s initiative or activities meet the criteria above, we encourage you to apply. Awards will be distributed at the discretion of the Global Engagement Advisory Committee under the advice of an awards committee. Clubs that submit proposals must be in good standing with WLUSU or WLUGSA.
Clubs are required to present to the selection committee. Each proposal will need to demonstrate a marketing plan, how the initiative will make an impact beyond the club’s regular membership and the intended outcomes of the initiative. Funds are to be used to pay invoiced expenses only. Successfully funded clubs will be required to submit to a final outcome report.
Timeline
Request for proposals: Nov. 4 and Jan. 31, each year.
Proposals submitted by the deadline will be provided full consideration. If there are remaining funds, additional post-deadline submissions will be considered. Adjudication and selection takes place within two weeks after the proposal deadline.
