Madelyne and Wendy
Madelyne: "The Laurier International Cultural Conversations (LICC) sessions have been such a great experience! Especially given the unfortunate circumstance of the current pandemic, LICC has provided me with a platform to connect with my fellow peers and international students. Not only were we able to talk about important issues such as culturally sensitive topics, but further delve into our personal lives. Having these discussions in small groups has given me the chance to learn more about my group members’ various perspectives and experiences. One key lesson that I’ve taken away from this opportunity is to be more aware and conscientious about other people’s lifestyles. Intercultural learning has allowed me to expand my knowledge and acknowledge the significance of keeping an open mind. From gaining more insight about certain cultures to sharing similar struggles of online learning, participating in LICC is something anyone could take advantage of!"
Wendy: "I am very happy to participate in the LICC this term. As an international student, I was very unfamiliar with everything in Canada at first, but LICC helped me a lot. In the weekly Zoom meeting we discuss topics related to multiculturalism. My favorite topic is about immigration. Many international students shared their immigration experiences and their efforts for multiculturalism, which left a deep impression on me. In addition, Dr. Jacklin and my group members are very friendly. I am very grateful to them. In short, I have learned a lot from LICC, and this is a great course!"
