Voting in the Ontario Election
A provincial general election has been called and election day is Feb. 27.
If you’re 18 years of age or older, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of Ontario, you’re eligible to vote.
As a student, if you’re living away from home, you can vote either in the electoral district for your permanent home address, or in the electoral district for your address while at Laurier.
What ID Do I Need to Vote?
You will need to show ID to vote. It does not need to be photo ID. You can show your ID on a mobile device.
If you are on the Register:
- You will receive a voter information card in the mail that tells you when and where to vote.
- Bring the card and one piece of ID showing your name with you to the polling station to receive a ballot.
You can still vote if you did not receive a voter information card in the mail.
- Bring one piece of ID that shows both your name and your address to receive a ballot.
- The ID does not need to have your photo on it. It can be a bank or credit card statement, transcript or report card, or any document from a municipality or the government of Canada or Ontario that shows your name and address.
- A full list of ID requirements to vote is on the Elections Ontario website.
