Congratulations to Dr. John W. Schwieter and his colleagues on the publication of their article in the journal Languages, featured here on its cover. Schwieter et al are getting closer to understanding complex questions such as: how do two or more languages interact in the same mind? how do speakers of more than one language restrict their speech such that it does not suffer massive intrusions from the languages they are currently not using? The study - conducted in the Language Acquisition, Multilingualism, and Cognition Laboratory / Bilingualism Matters @ Laurier examines how trilinguals mentally (and unconsciously) control two languages while speaking in one.
