Calendar Description
This course is designed to introduce the student to the economic characteristics, function and performance of Canada's financial system. Such institutions as the Canadian payment system, the money market, the banks and near banks, and the foreign exchange market will be examined in detail.

Evaluation
A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
- iClicker marks: 5%
- MyEconLab online homework and quizzes: 15%
- Midterm (Saturday, October 12, 1:00 p.m.): 30%
- Final Exam (During exam period): 50%
- Bonus Presentation (voluntary 3 minute presentation, week 2-week 11): 2%
Note: For students who do better on the final exam than the midterm, 15% of the midterm weight can be transferred to the final exam (i.e., the weight of the midterm will be reduced to 15%, and the weight of the final will be increased to 65%).
