Laurier Economics Department kicks off its 7th Annual Food Bank Fundraising Drive
The Laurier Department of Economics in the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics has just kicked off its seventh annual holiday fundraiser in support of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
Started in 2018, the fundraising drive was prompted by a conversation about the benefits of making cash versus in-kind donations to charities like the Food Bank. The department came down strongly on the side of cash donations, and decided to put its money where its mouth was.
Last year’s drive, generously supported by faculty, staff, students and alumni, collected more than $8,000.
To encourage support, each year an anonymous donor matches all donations. Any donations made here before December 31 will again be matched.
Last year, as an additional incentive, faculty members dressed up when certain milestones were reached.
There will again be incentives for Lazaridis School students, faculty and staff to participate. But members of our alumni and broader community are also welcome to participate in the fundraising drive and will have their donations matched too.
