    Calendar Description

    Thorough review of pre-university skills in algebra, trigonometry and functions. Topics discussed will include: algebraic manipulations used to simplify expressions and solve equations and inequalities; analytic geometry; and polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. Also integrated with the course content will be discussion of specific learning strategies to help students with the transition from high school mathematics to university level expectations. The course will not count towards satisfying program requirements in mathematics.

    Lectures

    All instructional material will be available asynchronously on MyLearningSpace (MyLS).
    Zoom meetings are scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays between 4:00-4:50p.m. )

    Calculators

    Students may only use the approved scientific calculator, Casio FX-300MS Plus, on quizzes, course tests and the final examination. No other calculator is allowed. It is available for purchase at the campus bookstore.

    Evaluation

    A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
    • Participation: 10%
    • Online WeBWorK Homework: 10%
    • Online WeBWorK  Quizzes: 6%
    • Assignments 15%
    • Ter tests (2 tests worth 12% each) 24%
    • Final Exam (2.5 hours; exact date, time and location to be announced): 30%
    • Best of Assignments/Tests/Exam 5%

     

    The final mark will be determined as a percentage according to the above weights and converted to a
    letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current Undergraduate Calendar.
    To be eligible for a passing grade, a student must score at least 40% on the Final Examination
