    Calendar Description

    Vector geometry in R2 and R3; the vector space Rn and its subspaces; spanning sets, linear independence, bases and dimension; dot product in Rn and Cn; systems of linear equations and Gaussian elimination; matrices and matrix operations; matrix inverse; matrix rank; linear transformations in Rn; introduction to determinants, Cramer's rule; introduction to eigenvalues, eigenvectors and diagonalization of real matrices; applications of linear algebra.

    Calculators

    Students may only use the approved calculator, Casio FX-300MS Plus required on lab assignments, quizzes, tests, exams, and the final examination. It is available for purchase at the campus bookstore. No other calculator is allowed.

    Evaluation

    A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

    • WeBWorK Assignemnts: 10%
    • Labs: 15%
    • Midterm Test: (Friday, June 26, 2020, 2:00-3:20. - 11:50 a.m:  30%
    • Final Examination (2.5 hours; exact date, time and location to be announced): 45%

    To be eligible to pass this course, a student must score at least 40% on the final examination. The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.
