Multi-Factor Authentication: Tips for Outlook and Sign-in Optimization

Set yourself up for success with your Outlook app and follow our tips and tricks to improve your multi-factor authentication (MFA) experience!

Remember:

  • You will be prompted to provide your second-factor authentication the first time you log in to any Laurier applicaiton requiring MFA.
  • You will be asked to re-authenticate on the first attempt to access a system after being inactive on the device in that location for 90 days or longer.
  • You will be asked to assert your second factor if you change locations or log in using a different device.

There are a few simple settings you can change to help optimize your Authenticator app.

Reduce Sign-in Frequency

Depending on the application, you might be asked authenticate more often. There are steps you can take to reduce this. Remember you'll need to re-authenticate when you change or reset your password.

Configure Outlook

The “Microsoft Outlook App” for your mobile device can be found in the Google Play Store (Android) and Apple App Store (iOS).
