Unclaimed Package Procedure

Individuals have 3 business days to pick up their packages via the Intelligent Locker System or at one of the Distribution locations.

Unclaimed packages are held in Distribution Services for an additional 15 business days after notification. During this time, Distribution Services sends a “final notice” email to the recipient’s Laurier email address indicating that their package pick-up time has expired and failure to respond will result in their package being re-distributed or disposed of. The recipient can request that the package be re-processed back into the locker system, or they can pick it up directly from Distribution Services.

After 15 business days, Distribution will endeavor to return any parcels to the sender. Parcels that remain unclaimed will be opened and, if suitable, forwarded to the Freestore located on the original campus of delivery. Parcels deemed unsuitable for the Freestore (e.g., due to damage, inappropriate contents) will be disposed of in approved Laurier waste bins or donated/recycled where feasible. This supports Laurier’s commitment to sustainability by reducing the amount of waste going to landfills.

This procedure does not apply to packages sent to the university by staff or faculty, or by student employees who order packages as part of their employment with the university.

Note: Students moving out of residence are advised that Distribution Services is not able to hold or forward mail or packages for students after they have checked out of residence. Students should make sure they have provided a forwarding address to anyone who needs it and/or have mail or packages redirected appropriately.
