We Are Hawks

When you're at Laurier, you are a member of the Golden Hawk family. Whether you’re a casual gym user, a high-performance varsity athlete, an intramural superstar or you just want to cheer the purple and gold to victory, always remember that #WeAreHAWKS.

  • Men’s and Women’s Curling have a combined total of six national and nine provincial championships in the last 10 years.
  • Women’s Hockey has won 10 of the last 15 provincial championships.
  • Men’s Baseball won their first-ever Ontario championship in 2013.
  • Women’s Soccer has won three of the last eight Ontario championships.
  • Last season, Laurier varsity teams combined to win 63% of their games in the regular season and playoffs.
  • 14 members of our Football team have been drafted by the CFL in the last 10 years, including four in the first round.

Laurier has 500 varsity athletes on 24 varsity teams including baseball, basketball, curling, football, soccer, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, swimming, cheerleading and more. 

New to the Brantford campus for the 2016/17 season is varsity sports! Men's indoor soccer and mens's and women's cross country are among the varsity sport opportunities from Laurier Brantford Athletics and Recreation, which are both classified as tournament sports under the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Sport Model.

Our varsity teams are housed by many state of the art facilities. The following locations are where you can find our teams during game seasons:

  • Men's and women's hockey: Sun Life Financial Arena, Waterloo Recreation Complex
  • Men's and women's basketball: Athletic Complex Gymnasium
  • Men's football: Knight-Newbrough Field, University Stadium
  • Women's lacrosse: Knight-Newbrough Field, University Stadium
  • Men's and women's rugby: Knight-Newbrough Field, University Stadium
  • Men's and women's soccer: Knight-Newbrough Field, University Stadium
  • Swimming: Athletic Complex Pool
  • Men's baseball: Bechtel Park
