Online Booking in the SWC
Online booking is a quick and convenient way to schedule an appointment with a doctor for non-urgent and routine reasons. We do not offer online booking for medical concerns that are urgent, severe, or sudden because we want to talk to you to make sure you receive the care you need when you need it.
We also don’t offer online booking for mental health or counselling appointments because we want to make sure you get the help you need in a timely manner.
Here are some tips and guidelines to help you know if you should schedule your appointment online, or if you should drop in or call to talk to someone.
THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE USING ONLINE BOOKING
Are you experiencing a sudden or severe medical concern?
If you have any questions about how soon you need to see a doctor, give us a call or drop in. Our front desk and nursing staff will tell you if we think you need to see a doctor urgently, and we might have a same-day doctor’s appointment available. If you are having a medical emergency on campus, call Special Constables or call 911.
Is your medical concern listed in the drop menu?
We have only made certain appointment types available for online booking. This is for your wellbeing and to make sure things run smoothly while you’re here. If the medical concern you selected in the drop menu does not match the problem you describe to the doctor, the doctor may decide not to continue the appointment, and you may be subject to a late-cancellation fee.
Are you comfortable waiting a few days or longer for your appointment?
It is not possible to schedule an appointment online for sooner than 24 hours from the time of booking. If you would like to be seen on the same day or the next day, you should call us or drop by.
Are you having trouble finding an appointment that fits your schedule?
We have many more practitioners and appointments available than what you can see in the online booking tool. The SWC is a busy clinic, and we schedule a lot of appointments every day. If you don’t find a time that works for you online, or if the appointment that fits your schedule is more than a week away, call us. We can usually help you find a sooner appointment.
Could a nurse resolve your issue?
There is always a nurse available in the SWC when we are open, and she can help with many medical concerns. For example, the nurse can answer questions about sexual health, check on test results, and provide pregnancy tests, Plan B, and TB skin tests. You can’t book online to see the nurse, so give us a call or drop by to ask to see her or if you are not sure what kind of appointment you need.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
- When you schedule a medical appointment in the SWC, we need to know the reason for the appointment at the time of booking.
- If you can’t find your medical concern in the drop menu, call us. If you’re concern isn’t listed, it’s because we want to talk to you.
- You can probably get a sooner appointment if you drop by or call us.
- Online booking is for routine medical concerns, such as birth control consults or repeats, routine STI testing (when you do not have symptoms), acne, irregular periods, and wart treatments. We want to talk to you if you are having sudden or severe medical symptoms or if you need first aid.
- If you aren’t sure if you should book your appointment online, give us a call. We would be happy to talk to you and make sure you get the care you need.
