BBA Sequence Options
Selecting Your Preferred Sequence
BBA candidates: We will ask you to complete a work sequence request form before your admissions interview. We will ask you to check the one statement that best reflects your preference:
- I am willing to accept admission to co-op only if I am in Sequence One.
- I am willing to accept admission to co-op only if I am in Sequence Two.
- I am willing to accept either Sequence One or Sequence Two.
If we offer you admission to co-op, we will assign you to a sequence. You may not switch sequences once we offer you admission. (Exception: If you participate in the early recruiting process for CPA firms, you may apply to jobs that begin in May and September.)
Sequence One: If we assign you to Sequence One in 2024, you will begin your first work term in May 2025.
Sequence Two: If we assign you to Sequence Two in 2024, you will begin your first work term in September 2025.
We will likely assign more than half the BBA students we admit to Sequence Two. If you are willing to accept either sequence, you may have a better chance of receiving an offer of admission than students who are willing to accept only one particular sequence.
It is important to note, however, that Sequence Two does not work for all students. Please read the next section carefully before selecting a sequence as your preference.
BBA Work Sequence Options
If any of the statements below apply to you, we advise you not to say that you will accept Sequence Two. Instead, we urge you to say that you will accept admission only if assigned to Sequence One if you can say "yes" to any of the following statements:
- I wish to pursue a concentration in Business and Sustainability, International Business, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management or Strategic Management.
(Courses required for these concentrations, in 4B are available only during the winter, when students in Sequence Two on their final work term.)
- Completing three study terms in a row would cause me financial hardship.
(Students in Sequence Two are not able to work full-time hours until September, after 3A.) - I suspect I may not be able to meet requirements for progression to year 3 by the end of April.
(Students in Sequence Two must meet progression requirements so they can start 3A in May.) - I plan to drop a course this fall or winter.
(Again, students in Sequence Two must be ready to progress to 3A in May.) - I have received an offer for a job that begins in May.
(Choose the sequence that aligns with your job offer.) - I am a varsity athlete and am required to participate in my sport in the fall.
(You would not be available to complete your first work term in the fall, so you are not eligible for Sequence Two.) - I have been advised by Accessible Learning to take only four courses per term, so I need to take two second-year courses in the spring. (To participate in Sequence Two, students need to complete 3A during the spring term.)
If you receive OSAP funding, please investigate whether the sequence you choose could have an impact on your eligibility for funding. The provincial government has regulations restricting the number of academic terms for which students may secure OSAP funding.
Once we assign you to a sequence, you may not change it later. (Exception: If you participate in the early recruiting process for CPA firms, you may apply to jobs for work terms that begin in May and September.)

- Most students admitted to Sequence One in 2024 will begin four-month work terms in May 2025, January 2026 and September 2026.
- Some CPA firms may ask students hired for the winter work term to return for the following winter term instead of in fall.
- A few employers recruiting for the spring work term may hire students for an eight-month term:
Students admitted in 2024 and hired for eight-month positions complete their first and second work terms from May through December 2025, and their third work term from September to December 2026.
