BBA Sequence Options
All BBA candidates will be asked to complete a work sequence request form before their admissions interview. Most BBA students begin their first work term in May, but some begin their first work term in September. You will have to indicate which sequence you prefer before your admission interview (we cannot guarantee that you will be assigned to your preferred sequence if you are offered admission). Review the BBA Work Sequences Options below before your interview to select the best sequence (s) for you.
You will be considered for admission only to the sequence(s) you specify. Students who are willing to accept either sequence may have a better chance of receiving an offer of admission than students who are willing to accept only one particular sequence. If you are offered admission to co-op, we will let you know which sequence of work and study terms you will follow.
BBA Work Sequence Options
If any of the statements below apply to you, we advise you not to select Sequence Two. Select "I am willing to accept admission to co-op only if I am in Sequence One" if you can say "yes" to any of the following:
- I wish to pursue a concentration in Business and Sustainability, International Business, Human Resources or Supply Chain Management.
(Courses required for these concentrations, in 4B, are available only during the winter, when students in Sequence Two are working.) - Completing three study terms in a row would cause me financial hardship.
(Students in Sequence Two are not able to work full-time hours until September.) - I suspect I may not be able to meet requirements for progression to year 3 by the end of April.
(Students in Sequence Two must meet progression requirements so they can start 3A in May.) - I plan to drop a course this fall or winter.
(Again, students in Sequence Two must be ready to progress to 3A in May.) - I have received an offer for a job that begins in May.
(Choose the sequence that aligns with your job offer.) - I am a varsity athlete who is required to participate in my sport in the fall.
(You would not be available to complete your first work term in the fall, so you are not eligible for Sequence Two.) - I have been advised by Accessible Learning to take only four courses per term, so I need to take two second-year courses in the spring. (To participate in Sequence Two, students need to complete 3A during the spring term.)
If you receive OSAP funding, please investigate whether the sequence you choose could have an impact on your eligibility for funding. The provincial government has regulations restricting the number of academic terms for which students may secure OSAP funding.
Once we assign you to a sequence, you may not change it later. (Exception: Students who are matched in January with a CPA firm requiring a different sequence.)
The majority of Business Co-op students will follow Sequence One. Only about 100 students will follow Sequence Two.

- Most students following this sequence will begin four-month work terms in May 2021, January 2022 and September 2022.
- A few employers recruiting for the spring work term may hire students for an eight-month term. Students hired for these positions complete their first and second work terms from May through December 2021, and their third work term from September to December 2022.
- Some chartered accounting firms may ask students hired for the winter 2022 work term to return for the winter 2023 term instead of in fall 2022.
BBA Sequence Two
BBA students in Sequence Two apply to jobs that begin in September 2021 and last four or eight months with one employer. (They may also apply to CPA postings for jobs beginning in May or September, with interviews taking place in January.)
Students in Sequence Two who secure a four-month position for fall 2021 will follow this sequence of work and study terms:

Students in Sequence Two who secure an eight-month position for fall 2021 will follow this sequence of work and study terms:

Selecting Your Preferred Sequence
BBA students will be asked to check the one statement that best reflects their preference:
- I am willing to accept admission to co-op only if I am in Sequence One.
- I would prefer Sequence One, but would accept Sequence Two.
- I am willing to accept admission to co-op only if I am in Sequence Two.
- I would prefer Sequence Two, but would accept Sequence One.
- I am willing to accept either Sequence One or Sequence Two; I have no preference.
