Math: Mock Tests and Exams
Prepare for 100-level math midterms and final exams by participating in a mock test.
You'll be completing the problems under test-link conditions. The benefit of participating is that you'll get personal feedback by having your submitted work graded to determine your strengths and the areas you need to work on. There will also be a follow-up review session scheduled for each mock offered.
How to Participate
Here are some preparation tips and recommendations before you participate in the mock test or exam:
- Create one page of study notes ahead of time to use while completing the mock test. (Note: These notes are only to be used to aid in the study process, and must not be intended for use during your actual test or exam)
- Download a copy of the mock test.
- Restrict yourself to a 1.0 to 1.5 hour period to work on the problems (or a 2.0 to 2.5 hour period for mock finals).
- Attempt the problems without using any reference material, other than your page of study notes.
- Use only the specific model of calculator allowed for your actual midterm or exam.
To access the MaSt page:
- Log in to MyLearningSpace (MyLS).
- Select Self Registration.
- Go to the "Math & Stats Learning Support – Waterloo" page.
To participate in the mock test or exam:
- Access the mock test on the date and time listed in the Schedule tab below or on the MaSt page in MyLearningSpace.
- Complete the mock test/exam. Make sure you provide complete solutions to the questions, regardless of the format of your actual midterm/exam, so that we can provide feedback on your understanding.
- Scan the paper copy of your work as a PDF, PNG, or JPEG file.
- Submit your file to the appropriate Dropbox on the MyLS MaSt page.
Your completed mock test will be graded and linked in the "Feedback" section of your Dropbox submission. All students in the course are welcome to attend the takeup/review session, regardless of whether they submitted a mock test for grading.
To prepare for your review session:
- You are strongly encouraged to attempt all of the problems before the review session to help you determine which topics/concepts you need to review.
- Check your work against the answer key that will be posted (on MyLS) before the scheduled takeup/review session.
