Youth and Children's Studies Projects in ACERS 2022
The Academic, Creative and Engaged Research Showcase (ACERS) is a Laurier Brantford initiative where student research is on display for the Laurier community and general public. The digital research showcase had three categories: one for traditional poster style presentations, one for videos and one for podcasts. In particular, the Youth and Children's Studies program would like to highlight the following submissions, which were research projects by students in our upper-year courses:
Mikella Wilson - Stars Christmas Wish (YC310): This project is a story designed to tell children ages seven and below about sibling separation in the child welfare system.
Kaitlyn Smale and Tachel Gerrits - Just Right: A Children's Storybook about Same-Sex Adoption (YC310): This project uses a children's storybook to represent experiences of same-sex adoption.
Abigail Freymond - Goth Youth and Mental Health (YC430): This project focused on goth subcultures among youth, and the impacts it has on mental health.
Amy Che - Minecraft Can Be Educational (YC326): This project explores the educational benefits of Minecraft for individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
Congratulations to the 2022 Prize Recipients, and a job well done to all the student researchers!
