Limits and continuity; differential and integral calculus of functions of a single variable; the Mean Value Theorem; determination of extrema; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and techniques of integration; introduction to partial derivatives.

J. Stewart: Calculus (Early Transcendentals), 8th Edition, Cengage Learning and also a course pack of notes (available at the bookstore).

Calculators

Students may only use the approved scientific calculator, Casio FX-300MS Plus, on lab assignments, the midterm test and the final examination. No other calculator is allowed. It is available for purchase at the campus bookstore.

Evaluation

A final mark out of 100 will be calculated as follows:

  • Precalculus Quiz: 2%
  • Weekly Online WeBWorK Homework: 7%
  • Lab – Online WeBWorK Quizzes: 7%
  • Lab - Written Assignments: 14%
  • Midterm Test (Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.): 30%
  • Final Examination (2.5 hours, exact date and time to be announced): 40%

To be eligible to pass this course, a student must score at least 40% on the final examination. The final mark will be reported as a letter grade in accordance with the conversion table of the current undergraduate calendar.
