Program Transfer Request Form: Health Sciences, Kinesiology

Health Sciences

Transfer into Year 2 of the Health Sciences program (BSc) at Laurier is a competitive process, and space is extremely limited. A minimum GPA of 10.0 (80% or above) will be required to be considered for the program, but higher grades may be necessary, depending on space availability and the number/calibre of applicants. You must also have the average and courses required of students entering the program from high school (i.e., an overall high school average of mid 80s, in addition to the required courses at the appropriate grades). Exceptional performance in required courses in year 1 may be considered acceptable grounds for transfer, in cases where high school requirements are not fully met.

  • Your application will be reviewed by the Health Sciences Program Progression Committee; as part of its decision-making process, the Committee may request a letter from you indicating your reasons for wanting to transfer into the program. A decision will be made on the basis of your final grades from Year 1.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 10.0 in at least four full credits is required; if 5.0 credits are taken in Year 1, the overall average of the full first year is considered.
  • Your application cannot be reviewed until final grades and all documentation have been reviewed; thus, you may not learn the outcome of your request until June. Until a decision is made, you should proceed with course selection for your current program. If you are accepted into the program, space will be found for you in your required Health Sciences courses.

Kinesiology

Transfer into the Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) is considered for September entry and Year 1 only. Transferring into the BKin program is a competitive process and space is extremely limited. Meeting minimum GPA requirements does not guarantee admission. You will need a minimum GPA of 10.0 (80% or above) to be considered for the BKin program, but higher grades may be necessary, depending on space availability and the number/calibre of applicants. You must also have the average and courses required of students entering the program from high school (i.e., an overall high school average of mid 80s, in addition to the required courses at the appropriate grades). If approved, you will retain previous successfully completed Laurier credits as electives. Requests will be considered by the committee upon completion of the current academic year.

You will receive notification via email once a decision has been made.

If you received transfer credits for studies completed before attending Laurier and you change your program of study, your transfer credit assessment may be eligible to change as well. Once your program of study has updated on your MyDegree and LORIS account, email transfercredit@wlu.ca to advise of this change and start the transfer credit reassessment process.
