2024-2025 Sustainable Hawk Fund applications open!
Are you passionate about making a difference in sustainability on campus? Do you have an innovative idea about how to create a positive environment or social impact for our community members? If so, the Sustainable Hawk Fund can help bring your idea to life.
Led by the Sustainability Office, the SHF awards up to $5,000 per project that promotes sustainability on campus and in the community. Projects must align with at least one of Laurier's Sustainability Action Plan goals, such as waste reduction, sustainable food systems, campus engagement, and improving natural spaces.
The fund is open to students, staff, and faculty from all campuses. Applicants must submit a completed application by Jan. 17, 2025. Applicants may also include a business plan, creative design, goals, and project deliverables as supportive documents.
Shortlisted ideas will be invited to present a pitch to the Sustainable Campus Committee. This committee is comprised of staff, faculty, and students who are directly involved in sustainable initiatives on campus, who will provide feedback on feasibility and project scope.
Applicants from the Brantford, Milton, and Waterloo campuses will have an equal opportunity for project funding. Of the total funds awarded, $5,000 will be earmarked to projects led by Black, Indigenous, or racialized individuals, or projects focused on issues related to sustainability, race, and equity.
Since 2015, 60 projects have been selected for funding including the My Green Lab initiative, and the Nurture Pack for people experiencing homelessness project.
