Writing Support Programs
Register for our writing support programs to help you work on your academic writing skills. Our Academic Writing Month (AcWriMo) and English Major Writing Group run during specific periods of the academic year.
AcWriMo
Returning in Nov. 2025.
Do you want to get academic writing done with a group of equally dedicated students? Need a little extra motivation? Or just want company as you write?
Each November, Writing Support joins Academic Writing Month (AcWriMo) by offering a weekly AcWriMo group. This group is open to both undergraduate and graduate writers in any program.
During the AcWriMo group, you’ll:
- Set goals for your writing for the month.
- Form a support network for your writing practice.
- Learn strategies and habits for your writing practice.
- And get writing done!
Brantford Creative Writing Group
Looking for a space to focus on your writing? The Laurier Brantford Writing Centre is launching a weekly Creative Writing Group starting Thursday, Feb. 27, from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Nook, Level One Lounge.
This group provides a dedicated space for students to work on writing assignments or creative projects in a supportive, social environment. Whether you’re tackling an essay, writing poetry, or working on a short story, you can write alongside peers, enjoy snacks, and participate in guided focus sessions using the Pomodoro technique. Writing warm-ups will be provided by our group’s facilitator, offering optional exercises to spark creativity.
Sessions will run every Thursday until Apr. 3! No registration required—just drop in and write!
