Writing Support Programs
Register for our writing support programs to help you work on your academic writing skills. Our Academic Writing Month (AcWriMo) and Graduate Writing Café run during specific periods of the academic year.
AcWriMo
Do you want to get academic writing done with a group of equally dedicated students? Need a little extra motivation? Or just want company as you write?
Each November, Writing Support joins Academic Writing Month (AcWriMo) by offering a weekly AcWriMo group. This group is open to both undergraduate and graduate writers in any program.
During the AcWriMo group, you’ll:
- Set goals for your writing for the month.
- Form a support network for your writing practice.
- Learn strategies and habits for your writing practice.
- And get writing done!
Graduate Writing Café
Every summer, Writing Services welcomes you to join a graduate writing community on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The Graduate Writing Café is a supportive environment where you can work on your course assignments, MRP, dissertation, or any other written work. Each morning includes four Pomodoro writing sessions and an opportunity to discuss your work with other graduate students.
How to Participate
You can participate either in-person or online:
- The in-person writing group meets on the 2nd floor of the Peters Building, room P226 (the Writing and Learning Lab). There is no need to register in advance.
- The online group meets on Zoom.
This program will resume May of 2025.
