Testing desktop notifications for the Alert Notification System on April 30

    April 17, 2024
    Print | PDF

Special Constable Service (SCS) is excited to announce the latest addition to Laurier’s enhanced alert notification system: desktop notifications. This new alert mode enhances the campus-wide alerts as part of Laurier’s emergency procedures.

Desktop Notification Alert Testing on April 30

SCS will be sending a desktop notification test alert to all Laurier-managed Windows and Mac computers from Laurier’s alert notification system on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. The messaging will indicate that this is a test and no action is required.

    Impact to Students

This test will only impact you if you are using a Laurier-managed computer in one of Laurier’s classrooms, labs, or other public areas on campus with a Windows or Mac computer. This test alert will not include other alert modes of email, SMS Text Message, or SAFEHawk app push notification.

Register for Laurier’s Enhanced Alert Notification System

If you haven’t yet registered for Laurier's enhanced Alert Notification System, provide your mobile number(s) through MyAlerts to opt-in to receive time-sensitive SMS text message alerts and enable SAFEHawk notifications on your devices as part of Laurier’s emergency procedures.

    Questions After the Test Alert?

General questions or issues can be shared by submitting the Alert Notification Set-up Support Form.

For further information and FAQs on the desktop notification alert mode and Laurier’s alert notification system, visit the Alert Notification System page.
