Skate Library provides Brantford campus students with free access to ice skates
Want to go ice skating, but don’t own a pair of skates? During the winter months, students at Laurier’s Brantford campus can borrow skates for free from the Skate Library.
Hockey skates and figure skates in an array of sizes can be signed out at the Level One Lounge in One Market, just a short walk from the free municipal outdoor ice rink at Harmony Square located in the heart of campus. Skates are available on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Students must be 18 years of age or older to access skates through the Skate Library.
“Skating is a quintessential Canadian pastime,” says Beth Sanders, campus experience lead with the External Relations department's Brantford campus communications and community engagement team. “We’re pleased that we can offer this opportunity for students to get outside, take a break from their studies, and enjoy some fresh air and physical activity during the winter months.”
The Skate Library, now in its fourth winter, was funded by Laurier’s Student Life Levy and created through a partnership between the campus experience lead, Athletics and Recreation and Dean of Students Office.
