Announcing Laurier’s enhanced alert notification system
Wilfrid Laurier University’s Special Constable Service (SCS) is pleased to announce Laurier’s enhanced alert notification system for campus-wide alerts as part of Laurier’s emergency procedures.
The alert notification system sends simultaneous messages using email, SAFEHawk app push notifications, and SMS text messages. The university also posts alerts to Laurier’s web properties and through social media.
Automatically Enrolled: Email Alert Notifications
Current Laurier students are automatically enrolled to receive email alerts to their Laurier email address through the Laurier email distribution lists.
Opt In: SAFEHawk and Text Message Alert Notifications
SAFEHawk App
SCS highly recommends that you download and enable notifications from the SAFEHawk app on your devices.
SMS Text Messages
Students now have access to provide mobile number(s) to receive time-sensitive SMS text message alerts as part of Laurier’s emergency procedures.
SCS recommends opting in for SMS text message alerts by going to the MyAlerts portal and following the steps available on the Alert Notification System page. You may provide up to three mobile numbers.
Alert Notification System Testing
SCS will schedule a system-wide test alert using email, SMS text messages, and the SAFEHawk app alert modes the week of Feb. 26. This will be a test and no action is required.
SCS will schedule regular alert notification system tests throughout the year.
