International Education Studies

The International Education Studies (IES) program provides you with knowledge and experience as a pathway to teach in an international school or pursue a broad range of education-related work in international development and other fields.

Our unique program design includes courses from Global Studies and the Faculty of Education to support students' global mindedness and teaching abilities.

Announcements for Fall 2021/22

  • We are excited to welcome our third cohort of 25 students to the program! Some courses will be offered on the Waterloo campus and others will be remote. Please check your schedule for these offerings.
  • We are working with Community Service-Learning and the Faculty of Education to provide suitable placements as part of INED201: Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, which includes a placement requirement. Some of these placements will be in-person while others will be remote/virtual.
  • Students in the third year of the IES program can look forward to some exciting placements. Depending on Laurier COVID-19 guidelines, some of these may be offered as on-site placements in Canada and internationally. Opportunities will be available for local and/or virtual placements that focus on international education.
