Certificates

To earn your certificates:

  • Register for workshops on Navigator. Workshops are offered frequently throughout the academic year.
  • Enroll in the Career Development Certificate in Navigator by clicking "Sign-up for a Program." As you attend each workshop, Navigator will track your certificate requirements. Once you have attended the required workshops, complete the "Completion Questionnaire" in Navigator to receive your certificate.
  • Participate in the Career Prep Program to complete the workshops as part of a small group. Participation in this program will leave you excited, motivated and hopeful about future career options and confident in overcoming barriers to employment. You will begin building your network while engaging with other students. Commitment is two sessions per week over a 4-week period, or one session per week over an 8-week period.

  • Provides you with the skills and knowledge to find the position you want and plan a fulfilling career.
  • Makes a valuable addition to your resumé and Laurier Experience Record.

Career Development Certificate for Students in Graduate and Professional Programs

Successfully transitioning from graduate school into academic or post-academic professions requires a combination of self-reflection and job market awareness, as well the proactive development of career planning and employment preparation skills. The Career Centre offers professionalization workshops and events in each of these areas, with the ultimate aim of supporting your progression into a meaningful career.

Part of the ASPIRE program, the Career Development Certificate is a convenient way to earn while you learn through attending five of the following qualifying Laurier Career Centre workshops:

  • Career Planning
  • Resumé Writing and Cover Letter Writing or Academic CV Writing
  • Job Search and Networking Strategies (Academic or Non-academic)
  • Interview Success (Academic or Non-academic)
  • LinkedIn

Engagement and Employability Certificate

Build your knowledge and skills for the job search process.

Certificate components:

  • Workplace Expectations: Be Prepared Workshop
  • Network with Confidence: Perfect your Pitch Workshop
  • Conduct an informational interview 
  • Complete a mock interview appointment
  • Engage: Experience Events – attend three Career Centre events (e.g., Career Fair, Job Fair, Career Centre Speaker Panels, Employer Recruiting Sessions, Further Education Fair)
