Tutor Connection Program
The Tutor Connection Program ("TCP") provides training to prospective tutors ("Tutors") as well as to students looking for tutoring support ("Learners"), and then assists students in making connections with qualified tutors.
It is the Learner's responsibility to contact potential Tutors and decide which Tutor will best meet their needs. The Learner and Tutor together negotiate the terms of their tutoring arrangement, such as frequency and length of tutoring sessions, location, and cost and method of payment. The Learner pays the agreed upon fees directly to the Tutor.
Trained tutors are not employees of Laurier. The TCP is not involved in the collection nor payment of fees being charged for tutoring services. And while we will make every possible effort, there is no guarantee that a trained tutor will be available for every undergraduate course offered by Laurier.
Additional options to obtain support with course content:
- Make an appointment to visit your course professor.
- Visit your teaching assistant/instructional advisor during their office hours.
- Check to see if your course is supported with peer-led course support sessions, such as drop-in help sessions, directed homework sessions, or supplemental instruction; all of these services are provided free of charge.
- Check with the department or professor to see if they can recommend a senior student.
