Lauier only accepts cheques in CAD and USD currency. If your external award cheque is in USD, Laurier will deposit the cheque using the currency exchange rate of the day it is processed and not necessarily the day Laurier receives it.
This information should be written on the face of the cheque in the memo or comments area. Cheques that do not include this information will not be processed.
Where Do I Send the Cheque?
Mail the Cheque:
ATTN: Student Awards
Wilfrid Laurier University
75 University Ave West
Waterloo, ON N2L 3C5
Be sure to attach a letter indicating the following:
- What term the cheque should be applied to (i.e. should the full amount go to your Fall term, or should it be split between your two terms).
- Whether the organization will be issuing a tax receipt for your scholarship, or if they would prefer the university to issue the tax receipt.
Cheques received without clear instructions and student-identifying information will not be processed and will be returned to the sender.
Drop-off The Check
If you have received the cheque directly, you may drop it off to
Service Laurier.
Check out our Campuses and Locations page for an interactive map.
External award agencies who wish to issue their own T4A tax form should notify Student Awards in the supplementary letter attached with the cheque.
If the documentation attached to the funding received by Laurier does not specify who will issue the T4A tax form to the student, Laurier will issue the student a T4A by default in late February.
External Opportunities
We strongly encourage our students to research for opportunities through Scholarships Canada.
