
Notice of Admission Decisions, Feedback and Appeals

Business and Economics
Candidates from Business and Economics learned whether they were being offered admission to co-op at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020. The deadline for accepting the offer of admission was Monday, Oct. 5, 2020.
If you accepted admission to co-op you agreed to follow the admission conditions for your program.
No Offer?
You are not alone, as there is considerable competition for admission to co-op. Here are some links to resources for finding employment, and for improving your performance in future competitions.
Marks:
- If you are looking for assistance improving your academic performance, visit Laurier's Study Skills and Course Support website.
Interviews:
- Laurier's Career Centre provides support in preparing for interviews.
Work Experience:
- As a Laurier student, you have access to job postings for summer, part-time and permanent roles through the Career Centre. You can also get support in writing resumes and cover letters.
Extracurricular and Volunteer Experience:
- The Students' Union provides links to campus clubs and the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network can get you started finding volunteer opportunities within your community.
Feedback and Appeal Process
Feedback
- If you did not receive an offer of admission, it is too late to request feedback. You are still welcome, however, to view the co-op admissions webinar. Use this access passcode: d3@Dbv%9 (The webinar is on Zoom, and you may view and listen to the webinar at a time that is convenient for you.)
- Students who wanted interview feedback after attending the webinar were asked to answer the questions under Request for Interview Feedback below, paste the questions and answers into an email and send the email to coopadmissions@wlu.ca. The deadline to submit was noon on Friday, October 9.
- If you requested feedback from interviewers, you were to attend your scheduled appointment on Monday, Oct. 19 or Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020.
Please note that you do not have permission to record this meeting.
The deadline has passed for requesting feedback, and we have scheduled all appointments.
Students who wanted feedback were asked to copy all the text between the lines below into an email, answer the questions, and send the email to coopadmissions@wlu.ca. The deadline was noon on Friday, October 9, 2020; we are no longer accepting requests for interview feedback.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us about how you have spent time since mid-March, including about any work.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us about other jobs since the beginning of grade 11.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us about your extracurricular and volunteer activities in your first year at university.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us about your extracurricular and volunteer activities in the previous two years.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us about using initiative to solve a problem.
- Please summarize what you remember telling us when we asked you to tell us about your accomplishments.
If you submitted extenuating circumstances before your interview, please provide a brief summary of what you told us during the interview about your extenuating circumstances.
I hereby declare that I have entered only details I remember mentioning during my admission interview.
Appeals
If you wish to appeal the admission decision, you must submit your reasons in writing. Send your written appeal to Karen McCargar, Director, Co-operative Education & Workplace Partnerships. You may appeal only if you attended a group feedback meeting and a feedback appointment with interviewers. The deadline for sending an appeal was noon on Friday, October 23, 2020. (We are no longer accepting any submissions).
Students who appeal decisions will receive a reply no later than Friday, November 13, 2020.
Arts and Science
Requesting Interview Feedback
If you were not offered admission and wished to receive feedback from your interviewer, your were to email coopadmissions@wlu.ca to schedule a meeting.
The deadline for calling to request a feedback meeting was noon on Monday, October 5, 2020.
We provided feedback during appointments on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020.
Appeals
Arts and Science students who wished to appeal the admission decision, after attending a feedback meeting, were asked to submit their reasons in writing to Karen McCargar, Director, Co-operative Education and Workplace Partnerships.
The deadline to submit a written appeal was Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.
We are not able to consider appeals which are based on:
- information you did not provide or develop fully in the interview or
- criticism of the current admission process or
- technical issues which occurred duing your co-op admission interview. (New for 2020.)
- Evidence that the decision not to admit you was unfair because interviewers didn’t use the advertised criteria (marks, work experience, volunteer and extracurricular activities, and performance in the interview) to make their admission decision.
