Laurier's Philosophy Club welcomes students of any faculty who have an interest in philosophy, and who wish to engage in open philosophical discussion outside of class. This club holds the same values as the discipline itself – including a love of wisdom, and an emphasis on philosophical discussion and debate. Often students will take the opportunity at these meetings to talk about issues raised in their classes, as well as other philosophical topics they personally find interesting. This gives students a chance to hear the views of their fellow classmates, and to defend their own views in a relaxed setting.
Each year the Philosophy Department invites speakers to give public talks about their research. These are excellent opportunities to encounter exciting new ideas, problems, and philosophical methods. Our talks also provide a forum to engage in philosophical discussion with faculty and with other students. Please go to the Speaker Series page for more information.
