Women and Gender Studies Student Representatives

Hello folks! My name is Zoë and I’m entering my fourth year at Wilfrid Laurier University this Fall. I’m majoring in Gender Studies and Cultural Studies, with a minor in Sociology. My favourite course in the program is a tie between WS203 (Girls, Women and Popular Culture), or WS211 (Diverse Masculinities).

Hello wonderful people!  My name is Katlyn Melcher and I am also entering my fourth year at Laurier. I am majoring in Women and Gender Studies and Communication Studies. I also have minors in Indigenous Studies and French. My favorite course in the program is WS305 (Gender, Culture, and Technology).

Going into the 2023/2024 school year, we are excited to see what we can work upon together in the department!  We encourage you to reach out anytime through email regarding any ideas, questions, or concerns that you may have.

Contact Zoe and Katlyn through wgs@wlu.ca.

Not My Laurier: Golden Hawks Combatting Gender Violence

Not My Laurier is a student-run campaign dedicated to combatting gendered violence within the Laurier community.

Diversity and Equity Associations

Many of our Women and Gender Studies students become involved in groups associated with the Centre for Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Two of these groups include:

The Centre for Women and Trans People

Laurier's Centre for Women and Trans People is a student service that strives to build a community of people and ideas that challenge and examine gender inequalities. In an effort to instigate change, this woman- and trans-positive space offers an extensive collection of academic, community and informational resources, as well as opportunities to actively engage in activism and awareness campaigns.

The Rainbow Centre

The Laurier Rainbow Centre is dedicated to enhancing the university environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer individuals in the Laurier community through awareness, promotion, education, advocacy and support.
