You can earn a combined Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Women and Gender Studies in combination with another Honours BA program.
To progress in the Honours BA in Women and Gender Studies program, you must:
To graduate with an Honours BA, you must achieve a minimum GPA of 7.0 in your Women and Gender Studies (and Women and Gender Studies approved) courses. If a GPA of 7.0 is not met, see the academic calendar for regulations around graduating with a general degree without designation versus a general degree with a field of specialization (i.e. all requirements below must be met for the latter).
The combined Honours Women and Gender Studies program consists of 20.0 credits, of which at least 14.0 must be at the senior level. The program includes a minimum of 7.0 credits in Women and Gender Studies as follows:
Required WS courses:
Degree program electives:
Note: The Women and Gender Studies fourth-year seminar is the capstone course of the whole degree. You should make every effort to take this crucial course as the culmination of your Women and Gender Studies degree. It is the only course that cannot double count for both your majors (e.g. If you are combining Women and Gender Studies with Sociology, you need to take a fourth-year Women and Gender Studies seminar plus 1.0 fourth-year credits in Sociology. One of the fourth-year Sociology courses cannot count for your Women and Gender Studies seminar requirement).
Download the combined BA in Women and Gender Studies worksheet.
You can now complete the minor in Women and Gender Studies entirely online, through classroom courses, or through a combination of both.
A minor can be declared at the end of your degree, when you complete your "Application to Graduate" form. Verify requirements well before this point.
Note: A minor is not available to students in general BA, CT or BSc programs without designation.
