Program Requirements

The Honours BSc Science program requires a total minimum of 13.0 Science credits. The program also requires a minimum of 13.0 senior credits, including a minimum of 9.0 senior Science credits. The 9.0 senior science credits include 3.0 300- or 400-level science credits, a minimum of 1.0 of which must be at the 400-level (refer to Program Note 1).

A minimum of 1.0 credit from courses outside the Faculty of Science is required.

Program Notes

  1. At least 9.0 senior credits (including a minimum of 3.0 credits at the 300 or 400 level, of which at least 1.0 must be at the 400-level) from the following list of courses and subject codes: BI, CH, CP, DATA, GG/GESC (Physical geography only), select courses from the department of Health Sciences (HE) (HE201, HE300, HE303, HE330, HE340A, HE340E, HE368, HE431, HE432, HE435, HE437, HE440H, HE440P, HE440Q, HE440S, HE440T, HE440V) and the department of Health Studies (HS202, HS204, HS206, HS220, HS300, HS304, HS308HS315, HS324, HS326, HS340, HS409)HN, KP, MA, PC or PS (PS courses must have a 6 as the middle digit e.g., PS26x), ST, WASC, and other approved senior science credits.
  2. Students are advised that many senior courses have prerequisites and should consider this when planning their course schedules. Honours BSc Science students are strongly advised to discuss plans with an Academic Advisor prior to course registration.
  3. A maximum of 7.0 credits are permitted at the junior (100) level.
  4. 1.0 credit is required outside the Faculty of Science and Department of Health Studies courses noted in Program Note 1, but can include GG102.
  5. Progression into Year Two requires a minimum overall GPA of 5.00. Progression into subsequent years requires a minimum overall GPA of 4.00. Graduation requires a minimum GPA of 5.00 in all Science courses (any course offered by the Faculty of Science), and a minimum overall GPA of 5.00.
  6. A maximum of two adjunct credentials, including from disciplines within the Faculty of Science (such as minors or options) may be declared, and may have additional requirements.
  7. This major cannot be combined with any other BSc program.
