Program Requirements
Note: University regulations apply to all students at Laurier. If there is any discrepancy between the program or progression requirements outlined on this page and those in the university's academic calendars, the academic calendars are the official sources of information. The information below is from the latest calendar, and you may be following progression requirements from an earlier calendar. Students are responsible for checking the appropriate calendar. Contact your program coordinator should you notice any discrepancies.
The Honours Archaeology and Heritage Studies program consists of 20.0 credits, of which at least 14.0 must be at the senior level. For students who chose to complete the minimum 10.0 credits for this program, 9.0 credits must be Archaeology approved at the senior level. It must contain at least 8.0 but no more than 13.0 credits in Archaeology and include:
- Required AR credits: AR101, AR102, AR219*, AR336, AR460, AR462.
- one of: AR341 or AR344.
- 2.0 additional credits in AR at the 200 level.
- 2.0 additional credits in AR at the 300 or 400 level.
- 2.0 additional credits from Approved Archaeology and Heritage Studies courses.
Degree Program Electives
An additional 10.0 credits for the degree total of 20.0 credits (including 5.0 credits which must be senior, and 3.0 credits which may be AR).
Notes
- Some courses may be offered on a rotating basis; it is the student's responsibility to plan his/her program accordingly.
- Students who are planning to pursue graduate studies in this or a related field are encouraged to plan their program with that goal in mind, and should consider both AR341 and AR344.
- Students interested in concentrating in the sub-field of Bioarchaeology are strongly advised to take the following courses: AR203, AR370, AR371, AR470, and AR471.

Program Regulations
- For progression into Year 2 of the program, the requirements include a minimum GPA of 5.00 in GG101 and GG102, and a 5.00 GPA in AR101 and AR102. For progression to upper years a cumulative GPA of 5.00 iin GG courses, and a 5.00 in AR courses, and a 5.00 GPA overall is required. For graduation, a cumulative GPA of 7.0 in GG and 7.0 in AR courses and a 5.00 GPA overall is required.
- All students are required to participate in a summer field school (either domestic or overseas, though participation in a field school pertinent to the area of study is recommended where feasible) and are encouraged to learn by becoming involved with the study of the department's artefact collections from current and past research projects carried out by department members. Students are encouraged to take the field course (AR219*) as early in the program as possible.

The Honours program in Archaeology and Heritage Studies in combination with another Honours BA program consists of a minimum of 20.0 credits of which at least 14.0 must be at the senior level. Of these, 7.0 credits must include:

Notes
- Students are encouraged to take the field course (AR219*) as early in the program as possible. Field courses are normally offered over the summer session, and should be taken at a site corresponding to the student's primary area of interest if possible.

- Students who are planning to pursue graduate studies in this or a related field are encouraged to register for the single Honours BA Program in Archaeology and Heritage Studies.
