Convocation Ceremonies

Programs

Printed copies of the program are available at the ceremony. Names of the students who are cleared to graduate in advance of the print deadline will appear in the printed program. Final copies of the program, which include all graduates, are available from Laurier Archives.

Live Streaming

For guests who are unable to attend the ceremony in person a live stream will be available via uStream 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

Honorary Degree Recipients

Honorary degrees are awarded honoris causa, “for the sake of honour,” and recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions locally, nationally and globally.

At the 2018 Spring Convocation ceremonies, we are pleased to recognize individuals who embody the vision and mission of Wilfrid Laurier University.

Monday, June 11 at 2 p.m.

  • Ms. Nora Young will be conferred an Honorary Degree

  • Ms. Laura Neil will be presented the 2018 Laurier Student Teaching Award of Excellence in the masters category

Tuesday, June 12 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Dr. Jonathan Crush will be presented with the 2018 University Research Professor Award

Wednesday, June 13 at 1 p.m.

  • Ms. Mary Deacon will be conferred an Honorary Degree

Thursday, June 14 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Ms. Camellia Bissessar will be presented with the 2018 Laurier Student Teaching Award of Excellence in the undergraduate category

Thursday, June 14 at 1 p.m.

  • Ms. Linda Fabi will be presented with the 2018 Order of Wilfrid Laurier University
  • Dr. Julie Mueller will be presented with the 2018 Donald F. Morgenson Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence in the category of Innovation in Teaching
  • Ms. Olufunke Oba will be presented with the 2017 Laurier Student Teaching Award of Excellence in the doctoral category

Friday, June 15 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Dr. Sofy Carayannopoulos will be presented with the 2018 Faculty Award for Service Excellence and Community Engagement

Tuesday, June 5 at 2:30 p.m.

  • Dr. Michael Ackerman will be presented with the 2018 Donald F. Morgenson Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence in the category of Sustained Excellence in Teaching

Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m.

  • Dr. Robert Feagan will be presented with the 2018 Faculty Award for Service Excellence and Community Engagement
  • Dr. Stacey Wilson-Forsberg will be presented with the 2018 Donald F. Morgenson Award for Teaching Excellence in the category of Internationalization
  • Dr. Danielle Law will be presented with the 2018 Donald F. Morgenson Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence in the category of Early Career Excellence
