Convocation Ceremonies


Printed copies of the program are available at the ceremony. Names of the students who are cleared to graduate in advance of the print deadline will appear in the printed program. Final copies of the program, which include all graduates, are available from Laurier Archives.

Live Streaming

For guests who are unable to attend the ceremony in person a live stream will be available approximately 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

Consent to Photography and Video

Participants in Laurier's convocation are consenting to Wilfrid Laurier University recording, altering, broadcasting, reproducing and using their visual and/or aural likeness from any still images, video recordings and/or audio recordings, in any medium, for any purpose, for perpetuity. Wilfrid Laurier University is the copyright owner of the recorded materials, and reserves all rights.

Honorary Degree Recipients

Honorary degrees are awarded honoris causa, “for the sake of honour,” and recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions locally, nationally and globally.

At the 2018 Fall Convocation ceremonies, we were pleased to recognize individuals who embody the vision and mission of Wilfrid Laurier University.

  • The Honourable Dr. Perrin Beatty, conferred an Honorary Degree.

Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m.

  • Dr. Stephen Brunt, conferred an Honorary Degree.

Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

  • Jamie Martin, presented with the Distinguished Governor Award.
  • Bina Mehta,  presented with the 2018 Donald F. Morgenson Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence in the part-time category.

Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m.

  • Dr. Ruth Abernethy, conferred an Honorary Degree.
