We encourage all students to submit their online student profile(s) through LORIS to be considered for competitive scholarship, award and donor-supported bursary opportunities.
Instead of applying for specific awards, we have created the student profile(s) for Laurier students. By completing the profile(s), you are applying to all awards offered to Laurier students.
The online student profiles:
Don't miss out on awards, scholarships and bursaries you may be eligible for.
Check the awards important dates and deadlines to give yourself enough time to gather your required documents and make sure you apply for an award on time.
Learn more about the student profiles below.
This profile is the application for competitive opportunities that are open to all students.
Opportunities granted from the general student profile are granted any time after the profile deadline, and the granting process is ongoing through to mid-April of each year.
Those who complete this profile before the deadline will then have the opportunity to complete the “Faculty Specific” profile.
This profile is the application for competitive opportunities that are specific to your program of study. You can complete your faculty-specific profile based on your program and faculty. For example, if you are in the BA Global Studies program you can complete the Faculty of Arts profile.
Opportunities that are specific to your program of study will be granted once the Faculty profile deadline has passed, and the granting process is ongoing until mid April.
Note: You must complete general student profile by the deadline in order to receive, and have access to, the faculty-specific profile.
This profile is the application for all first-year, undergraduate competitive entrance opportunities.
A first-year undergraduate student entering in the fall can complete all three profiles, as applications for all competitive opportunities.
Opportunities granted to first-year undergraduate students start in September, with the process being completed by November.
Before you get started, here are some reminders:
LORIS is used to complete your profiles. To learn more about the system and how to use it, see the LORIS page.
To access your profiles:
Check out the video below to learn more about how you can access your student profile(s).
For first-time applications:
While the submission of a financial statement (included in some of the profiles) is not mandatory, we strongly recommend you complete this section as many award opportunities have a “financial need” component.
Watch the video below to learn how to upload documents, delete documents, re-upload documents and where to monitor your document status.
Recipients of competitive opportunities are notified via their @mylaurier.ca email between October and March.
All decisions regarding awards are at the discretion of the Student Awards Office. Decisions on recipients for all competitive opportunities are made on an ongoing basis.
If you complete the profile, there is no guarantee that you will be the successful recipient of an award. The profiles are competitive opportunities and the most eligible candidate(s) is chosen as the recipient.
If you do not receive an award this year, this does not mean that you will not be eligible in another year. By filling out the profile(s) every year, you will have the best opportunity to receive an award!
You can review and make changes to your submissions up until the deadline. View your submissions by selecting the "View my Applications" tab. Make sure the application shows as "submitted."
Once the deadline has passed, your profile will show the status of "EXPIRED."
If you drop any course and have received any scholarships, awards or bursaries, the amount may be adjusted or revoked.
